Clinique Wrappings perfume is an old favourite of mine for sentimental reasons....it is how I met my husband!
Rewind 10 years or so to the days when I was just a slip of a thing and mobile telephones were new-fangled bricks only owned by the lucky few. Imagine a twenty-something me, all dolled up and trying to look cool while standing in a London wine bar waiting for my date. He was late (very) and I was clearly in grave danger of being stood up. To add insult to injury, a chuckling group of young men nearby obviously thought so too. To top it all off, after two glasses of wine, I was both a little bit tipsy and in urgent need of a visit to the ladies loo. But I did not want to leave my spot beside the door in case my errant date arrived and thought I had already left...
I was rescued by one of the cute chuckling boys nearby who asked if I would like to join them. I politely declined and explained primly that I was waiting for a friend. Not to be deterred, the cute chuckler declared that he could not possibly leave me to wait alone as I smelled too gorgeous, and what was my perfume? Corny chat up line or not, the cute chuckler would not take no for an answer until I told him the name of the fragrance - yes, you guessed it, Clinique Wrappings.
I am happy to report that the errant date did not arrive and the cute chuckler never left, and we are now married and living happily ever after. I like to think that the outcome would be the same had my perfume been different, but I suppose I will never know for sure!
Now that Clinique Wrappings has been discontinued, it can be very hard to find, but certainly not impossible. I always stock up when it is occasionally released in limited editions. My husband has also been known to surprise me with gift sets from the US when he travels with work. He has even confessed to opening the scent to remind him of me when he is away.... aaaahhh, still corny, and still cute!!
