Issey Miyake Fragrance Test - Will He Like It?

I'm very lucky to live with a man who is not intimidated by the idea of trying new types of clothing, male accessories, and fragrances. It gives me the opportunity to review lots of different types of male fashion products without having to rely on word-of-mouth. Even so, when it comes to the latest Issey Miyake Fragrance, called L'Eau Bleue d'Issey Eu Fraiche, I knew it was going to be a challenge. Even though he is typically game for most types of fragrances, Issey Miyake scents, even the ones designed for men, are not the most masculine fragrances on the market.

In fact, I know many women who consider the original Issey Miyake fragrance for men, L'Eau D'Issey Pour Homme, to be more appropriate for women than for men. My partner is aware of this too, so he was a little reluctant to actually wear it. Still, after quite a bit of persuasion, I was able to get him to try it for one day.

In the end, the results were mixed. As for myself, I was impressed by this Issey Miyake fragrance. It has a nice balance of dark and light including bergamot, mint, rosemary, rose de mai, pink pepper, musk, and white patchouli. Yes, these are not the most absolutely masculine ingredients in the world, but I found the scent to be pleasant, charming, and nicely complex.

It's almost completely original, and I don't know any other scent to compare it to. I suspect that's why this Issey Miyake fragrance has its share of detractors. I've read quite a few reviews that complain about its unconventional, slightly surprising overtones, but I think this negativity just comes from a mistaken idea of the elements that must be included in a male scent. Yes, some natural woodiness is always a good signal that a fragrance is made for men, but it's not absolutely essential. Essential oils are volatile, so if you heat them for a long time you will vaporize the scent and won't be stored in the candle. I've seen candle makers add both the dye and fragrance to the wax melter with the hard wax and stir it altogether as the wax melts. I consider this poor technique. I think it's better to melt the wax, then thoroughly blend in the dye and finally add the fragrance.
